In 1970, eight leading paint manufacturing companies of the country gathered together to form an association to develop the paint industry of the country and to find solutions for their common problems. The establishment was first named “Syndicate of Owners of Iranian Paint Manufacturers”, and functioned under umbrella of the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines of Iran. The pioneer members and founders of the Syndicate were Rangsazi Iran, Plaskar, Shams, Rangin, Pars Sadolin, Hawilux, Dyrop Iran and Pamchal. The first general assembly of the syndicate was held on February 20th of the same year. In 1980, the syndicate was renamed “Syndicate of Iranian Paint Producers”. During the imposed war, despite the serious problems the producers faced in connection with procuring raw materials, paint distribution did take place properly, by Syndicate under supervision and control of the Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Industries. During this period, the members of Syndicate could produce and distribute enough, to play an influential role in maintenance and reconstruction of the war damages
In 1994, following the changes made in the Article 131, of Labor Act, for formation of guilds and industrial unions, decisions were made to replace syndicates by guild associations
On this basis, the syndicate was renamed “ Paint and Resin Manufacturers Association of Iran “ and it was registered in the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs
Today, association has 22 members including leading paint and resin manufacturing companies and is functioning following the revised articles of association
